The daxophone is an electro-acoustic instrument invented by German musician Hans Reichel, one of the founders of the Free Music Production collective. The instrument comprises a number of sticks of various shapes that are fitted to an electrically amplified stand. The player bends and beats the sticks, thereby creating sounds that are unfamiliar—but beautiful—to the European ear.
