Sunda Berlin: Sundanese multi-instrumentalists and composers Ayo Sutarma and Dedy Hernawan will be performing with zeitkratzer, the Berliner avant-garde ensemble, and some Berlin school pupils. Ayo Sutarma and Dedy Hernawan have not only retained their close ties with traditional Sundanese music, they are also known for their openness to experimental ideas. Whereas Sutarna repeatedly tries, within the framework of musical events, to come up with surprisesa marked contrast to popular music, which tends to avoid them wherever possible. Hernawans work, on the other hand, proceeds from a contemplative concept that draws his listeners into a world of micro-tonal and micro-sonic tones. | | After playing solos and duets, the zeitkratzer ensemble will be premiering a composition by Dedy Hernawan. Together with a group of Berlin school pupils, Ayo Sutarma has been studying a piece for an ensemble which is performed without traditional instruments, relying only on voices and diverse objects. | | | | Line-up Dedy Hernawan and Ayo Sutarma (tarompet and rebab) zeitkratzer: Reinhold Friedl (piano and musical directing) Maurice de Martin (percussion) Burkhard Schlothauer (violin) Franz Hautzinger (trumpet) Uli Phillipp (double bass) Ralf Meinz (sound) | | back | |
