Jin Xing, China’s finest dancer, underwent a sex change to become a woman in 1994. As a transsexual, dancer, and actor, Jin Xing is one of China’s most famous performers. Dieter Baumann has been working in cooperation with Jutta Hell for 20 years now, investigating the body as the screen onto which cultural and sexual identities are projected. He is the most experienced performer on the contemporary German dance scene. On an individual level, from Person to Person, the two artists confront each other with their contrasting biographies, their identities as a man and a woman, and their artistic and cultural contexts. In their session the audience can take part in the process of their communication.
