This two-part evening focuses on how traditional knowledge is passed down from one generation to the next, and particularly from mother to son. The sangomas, priestesses and healers from South Africa, transform the stage to a ritual setting with their trance dances and, like the choreography of Gusmiati Suid, the late master of a martial arts/dance form originating in Sumatra, they illustrate the transformational power of traditional knowledge.
