Diran Adebayo's work has been widely acclaimed. His vision of contemporary urban life in London uses a sound mix of standard English, Jamaican patois and street talk as he explores themes of violence, love and politics entwined in omnipresent and everyday racialised patterns of identity. Adebayo's texts combine narrative density and linguistic finesse to create an underswell of emotions, genuine voices, often marginalized, and stories about people and the relations between them.
