|
Tony Allen, the drummer of the legendary Fela Kuti's band is considered one of the founding fathers and architects of Afrobeat, which has left its mark on music in modern Africa and the rest of the world. Influenced by Be bop drummer Art Blakey, his music draws on questions surrounding the importance of transnationality as well as questions of AfroAmerican improvisation enabling innovative artists like Tony Allen to formulate great contribution to modern African culture.
