Tony Allen (Lagos/Paris - drums)
"The man who put the beat into Afrobeat"
with Cesar Anot (Paris - bass), Claude Dibongue (Paris - guitar) and guests

Tony Allen, the drummer of the legendary Fela Kuti's band is considered one of the founding fathers and architects of Afrobeat, which has left its mark on music in modern Africa and the rest of the world. Influenced by Be bop drummer Art Blakey, his music draws on questions surrounding the importance of trans–nationality as well as questions of Afro–American improvisation enabling innovative artists like Tony Allen to formulate great contribution to modern African culture.
