Drink Smoke - Made in Havanna
European premiere at the House of World Cultures
Co-produced by DanceLab Berlin and DanzAbierta Havanna

For the first time in Germany: 12 dancers from DanzAbierta, who are in great demand internationally and have been members of Havana's young dance scene for 15 years now; and X Alfonso, one of the most innovative and important young musicians in modern Cuba. "Drink, Smoke - Made in Havana", a tropical cocktail of misunderstandings in love affairs from son, rap and big band sound: It is about how none of us can resist the urge to form our partners according to our ideal image and fail pleasurably. A lively look at a subject with which we are all familiar, with refreshing eruptions of dance. The beauty of Spanish/Cuban songs and the compositions - tender at times, explosive at others - of X Alfonso, the new voice of Cuba: played and sung live - a must for all who haven’t heard him yet.

Choreography: Norbert Servos, collaboration: Jorge Morro, music: X Alfonso, stage and costumes: Vivien Dürr
