Politics from a Black Woman's Insides: Yuko Edwards's film documents the search for information about Sarah Bartmann, who died in 1815. For more than two hundred years, parts of Sarah Bartmann's body were shown in exhibitions designed to support the dominant racial theories at the time. Even as late as the end of the 20th century, French scientists claimed both her skeleton and the infamous specimen jars containing her genitals and brain should remain at the Musée de l'Homme. After years of protests world wide, she was finally brought back to South Africa and buried in 2002.
