In cooperation with the Neue Gesellschaft für Bildende Kunst and the Fondation Arabe pour l'Image (FAI) Beirut. The photo and video artists Akram Zaatari and Walid Raad present their photo installation Mapping Sitting, a space of psycho-social memory reflecting the recent past in the Middle East from the 1920s to the 1970s in individual and group portraits. Artists, critics and curators will discuss new possibilities for artistic intervention and for displaying photographic archives and collections, as practiced by the FAI in Beirut since its foundation in 1997.Participants: Akram Zaatari (artist, Beirut), Walid Raad (artist, Beirut/New York), Joachim Schmid (artist, Berlin), Stéphane Bauer (curator, NGBK).
