Ziad and Maryam are happily married. But with no children after three years of marriage, the couple experiences increasing social and familial pressure. Initially Ziad is a devoted husband, but their relationship is gradually poisoned, especially by the omnipresent, sanctimonious mother-in-law, until at last the love and happiness of their early days take a tragic turn.
