Ghassan Salhab's films centre around the issues of "memory - forgetting - forgiving" and the city of Beirut: Beyrouth Fantôme is set in the late 1980s. Ten years ago Khalil used the war as a chance to vanish without a trace. His family and friends are astonished to hear rumours that the man they took for dead has returned. Khalil and his loved ones must attempt to heal the wounds made by the war and his flight. In this film Salhab mingles fictional elements and interviews with his actors, who draw parallels between their own lives and the characters they play.
