The "Samba-Dança, Gafieira e Coisa e Tal" show was born in the experience of Brazilian everyday life, leading us on a journey through a mystical, urban landscape where poetry and fate are blended with elements firmly rooted in Brazil's folk culture, and on into the secret world of swindlers and crooks and the sensual movements of "mulatas", whose chance meeting culminates in a stunning party where the pulse of the samba can be felt beating at its fastest. João Carlos Ramos, choreographer of Cia. Aérea de Dança, was born and grew up in Rio de Janeiro. In 1984, he first made his mark in the Carioca dance scene when he won the New Choreographers Show, promoted by Rio de Janeiro City Hall. After training in contemporary dance, he choreographed for stage, film and TV, performing in all of these media too. He founded the dance company Cia. Aérea de Dança in 1985.
