A central point of IN TRANSIT is, that artists from different cultural contexts and biographies meet and communicate. In the sessions of the lab, which are open to the public, the audience can take part in this process. Em Theay is a master of royal classical dance in Cambodia. Almost her entire family was wiped out under the Khmer Rouge, and she is one of the one in ten artists who survived the mass killings of the Pol Pot regime. In a documentary production, Ong Keng Sen presents Em Theay, her memories of court culture, the concentration camp, and survival. The personal biography of this extraordinary artist becomes the mirror of a suppressed genocide.
