Like the entire programme of FAR NEAR DISTANCE, the opening event also combines visual experience and reflection. It focuses on a unique dialogue between prominent Iranian artists "from inside and outside". The old master of Iranian film, Bahman Farmanara, will be the moderator when philosopher Daryush Shayegan and artist Shirin Neshat meet to discuss traversing boundaries between fine arts and film. In the course of the discussion, the two directors will also show excerpts from their films. An additional highlight: compositions for percussion by Mohammad Reza Mortazavi. The percussion virtuoso will present two solos for the Tomak drum. After curator Rose Issa has opened the exhibition, there will be a long night of DJ music in Café Global.
