Ojos de Brujo has a simple recipe for success: "We go out onstage and make the audience rave", the band from Barcelona says. "The secret is in the right mixture. Four parts flamenco to two parts each HipHop and funk, plus one part Latinsounds and one part Reggae." The synthesis results in one of the most popular live acts in Spain - and beyond. Nominated for this year's "BBC Radio 3 World Music Award", the "Eyes of the Magician" have made their name their program. The group Ojos de Brujo has existed since 1996, the only flamenco formation in the world with a DJ and a soundmaster who mixes the often archaic-sounding music with cutting-edge club sounds. The combo calls the result "jip jop flamenquillo". It is hard for listeners to resist the band's virtuosity; you quickly succumb to the fascination.
