For their conference Gene Coleman and John Corbett have invited an international discussion panel of musicians and scholars. The topic will be the consequences of globalization for New Music and traditional non-European music. The “conference” will lean more toward the character of an event. The exact agenda will be worked out together with the participants; in any case, the meeting will depart from the conventional model of most discussion sessions. The conference will begin in the afternoon, lasting until late at night, and is open to all who are interested. It will include lectures, discussions, taped samples and live musical performances.
