Press Talk/ The 2005 Programme
Tuesday, 23 November 2004 I 6 p.m.
House of World Cultures

Dear Sir/Madam,

We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to our Annual Press Talk on Tuesday, 23rd November at 6 p.m. in the House of World Cultures.

The House of World Cultures’ director Hans-Georg Knopp, together with the heads of Departments Shaheen Merali, Johannes Odenthal and Peter C. Seel, will be presenting the plans for the forthcoming year, detailing the programme schedules, and giving an insight into the challenges and long-term developments facing the House of World Cultures.

For more than 15 years, the House of World Cultures has offered a unique platform in the international arts field for the contemporary arts encompassing those from the continents of Africa, Asia and the Americas. These continent’s conditions have undergone constant changes due to migration processes within global networks. For this reason, the House of World Cultures understands its role as focusing on exposing the contemporary currents in art while critically examining and re-evaluating its own work.

For this year’s Annual Press Talk, we have invited the sociologist Ulrich Beck, as one of the most renowned theorists currently writing on globalisation in Germany and a member of the House of World Cultures international programme advisory board. Beck will comment on the present state of the debate.

You are cordially invited to the buffet after the press talk, which will give you the opportunity to raise your questions in an informal atmosphere.

Best regards,
Christine Regus
