Didar Amantay was born in 1969 and writes prose and essays. In his home country he has to face the charge of being a "postmodernist".

However, in fact he is merely seeking new forms for Kazhak literature and in so doing is orienting himself towards the French existentialists and the authors of the Nouveau Roman. He is particularly interested in the laconic in literature and the associated necessary formal and linguistic concentration of a text, and in the beauty that lies in the precision of words.
