Seen from the Egyptian point of view, criticism of the "West” is mainly referring to US foreign policy and self-criticism means Arab players. This includes Al Qaida and Bin Laden, but in a more general way also social actors in the Arab world, in particular intellectuals and politicians in Egypt.

We will invite three guests representing different positions in Egypt in order to map the debate after September, 11. It will become evident that for intellectuals in the Arab world – whether Muslim or not and no matter what they think about Islamic faith – it is hard to imagine that the struggle for the "Good” can be organised in solidarity and jointly with the United States of America. This is not because of lacking criticism with respect to international terrorism, but due to a lack of trust with respect to the USA.
