The artistic development of the percussion quartet Tambuco illustrates the most important criterion for contemporary music in Mexico: the fusion of urban culture with ancestral traditions. Tambuco is in search of the ideal fusion between worldwide traditional percussion - pre-Hispanic drums are used, as well as Chinese and Arabian drums - and the composition techniques of contemporary Western music.
