Alexander von Humboldt, the great explorer and cosmopolitan, is one
of Germany's most famous and most popular sons. His reputation and
prestige is based on the fact that he was one of the first to take a
holistic view of the world as a network, thus making him especially
relevant in today's globalised world. This Internet project was
developed in connection with the exhibit of the same name which was
held in the House of World Cultures in 1999, and offers an
informative picture of the life and work of the scientist Alexander
von Humboldt. His student days, his voyages and his influence on into
the present are illustrated with pictures, texts and sounds.
